For a young girl with sudden paralysis, a doctor who listened was the best medicine

When sixth-grader D’Zyer Wallace suddenly couldn’t move her legs, her mother Vernese rushed her to the hospital, only to be told it was “growing pains.” Persistent, Vernese took D’Zyer to Dr. Naga Chitta at CMC Tracy Central, who diagnosed her with transverse myelitis and later other conditions. With the right treatment, D’Zyer, now 17, has regained control of her life, remains active, and is set to join the U.S. Navy, inspired by Dr. Chitta’s dedicated care.

Respite Center and ongoing care help young man turn life around

Justin Allen, 27, entered CMC’s Respite Center in June 2023, motivated by his mother, to overcome a 12-year substance use struggle. By December 2023, he had been clean for over five months, crediting the Respite Center and Case Manager Patricia Ayala for their support. After the program, he stayed at San Joaquin Recovery House for 74 days and now lives in housing provided by Lodi’s Gravity Church. He continues to receive support from CMC’s Waterloo Recovery Center team. Justin is proud of his progress and remains committed to his recovery.

CMC provides support as former inmate settles into his own apartment

After 30 years in prison, Salvador Rodriguez was paroled in 2022 and moved in with his niece in Stockton. In spring 2024, he achieved his dream of living independently by moving into his own apartment in a senior-living facility, thanks to the support of CMC’s Transitions Clinic Network program. Salvador is grateful for his newfound freedom and the positive changes in his life.

A long-suffering patient finds immediate help in Vacaville
